A TON of behind the seams documentation of making my second attempt at Cinderella. I learned so much. I included SO much more fabric and nearly 3 times the rhinestones as I did on the first attempt.
My first attempt at all the bibbiddi bobbiddi boo of it all. And all I learned along the way!
Oh sweet Remy LeBeau.
This costume adventure was a TON of fun. Xan and I took on Rogue and Remy as bunny suits (think BunnyHutch at DragonCon) and it was awesome! I failed miserably at making my leg armor and didn’t press my coat before con because con crunch. But it was such a fun con!
I have cosplayed a lot of Buffy. Like a lot a lot.
But this page is going to be a compilation of a few different costumes that are mostly store bought pieces requiring a little bit of customization, rather than completely unique costumes that I made.
Just check out that bag though!
In 2018 I made a terrible mistake…I sold my Halloween Buffy gown. I decided I wanted to remake it with a more screen accurate rose brocade fabric. So I did.
And I hate it. Its just too…shiny. Even the matte side of the brocade is a bit too gaudy. And my trims are too much. It just looks cheap and I hate it. Stay tuned for a 3.0!
Tackled a dream costume with the Season 1 finale look for Buffy. I got to rock my first foam prop/weapon. It was an instantly recognizable Buffy look (as opposed to a lot of my more obscure favorites) and the one and only MissEllieHoneybee mini’d with me again! Such a dream con outing! And a great costume to shoot during lockdown too!
Embracing all of the gorgeous 18th century elegance of Darla in Buffy season 2, as Angelus’ maker, was AMAZING. I found a new and profound love in historical cosplay— I don’t know if I will ever fully embrace true historical study but I love exploring historical design for my favorite characters.
Lydia was a fun personal take on her classic animated look for my birthday at Monsterpalooza! It was a collaboration with my dear friend Kacey for his first cosplay ever as a character from his favorite movie, Beetlejuice!
Something there that wasn’t there before….
Winter Belle was so fun to make! And I am so excited to be remaking the gown. The whole costume came about because I found this PERFECT cranberry velvet in downtown LA and the beautiful lace for the sleeve flounces. So honored to have teamed up with Jorge as Beast and to make Gaston for Xan!
Magicked as my favorite little animated witch with this beautiful dress. The pattern was by Butterick, the fabric a hammered satin from JoAnn and I MADE that broom and it might be my favorite prop!
My second venture into the Sailor Moon fandom was for a rockabilly group based on art by the same artist that inspired my Eeveelutions group. I used a Gertie pattern and hand stamped the gold hearts on my orange cotton for the whole thing!
Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust made all my Christmas wishes come true.
Had so much fun kidnapping the sandy claws with Grayson and Vane!
Save the cheerleader…save the world.
I started this cosplay in the beginning of my first year in cosplay, and didn’t finish it until the end of my second. So unfortunately, I have no photos I can find of the making of this one.
But getting all bloody and nuts was SO much fun and definitely a cosplay highlight for me
She doesn’t even go here!
GoddessEevee and the Eeveelutions was such a fun group! And this costume was so unique to construct and draft—but I did the entire thing in such a con crunch state that I don’t think I have any behind the seams photos for her.
My first group cosplay was a Sailor Maid group, inner and outer senshi, and it was so fun! I still know next to nothing about Sailor Moon but this wasn’t my only venture into the fandom!
The first non shindig Kaylee costume I made was her green coveralls. I love this costume. I’m obsessed with the fabric I found—its a stamped green linen. So it’s so comfortable to wear. And I got to weather it more than most of my costumes. So that was a lot of fun.
I can’t wait to add more Kaylee to my repertoire!
This girl was a BEAST to make. Kaylee’s Shindig dress from Firefly was on my ‘someday’ list and catapulted to the top for 2018 WhedonCon when I made her to meet the costume designer who created the gown. (Spoiler alert: I didn’t meet her until SDCC but I did get to show it to her, complete with my very own pink flamingo pin nod to her)
Lornette Fred…was a different type costume for me. It was the least clothing I had worn as a costume at the time, it was my first time in bodypaint and it was a very obscure costume, even for me. It was fun, but she was a one and done for sure
In the summer or 2017 I debuted my first ‘cosplay’ of Rapunzel from Tangled (rather than a Halloween costume I’d made 2 years before). This featured custom printed fabric from spoonflower.com and my first true wig styling/ building.
For my first solo con, I created SuperGirl from the CBS turned CW show starring Melissa Benoist. I made the costume from neoprene layered beneath an athletic mesh (to emulate the texture of her boysuit) and a self drafted pattern, down to my first attempt at the boots. Also featuring a lot of the retired red UltraPreme fabric by Yaya Han for Joann (RIP, please bring this back!)
The third costume of my first con was Buffy’s Halloween costume from season 4, when she dressed as Red Riding Hood. This dress features a red gingham dress with short sleeves and pockets! Custom made apron from a vintage 1940’s pattern draft featuring lace trim. After it’s first outing, the red riding hood itself was made from a McCall’s fairytale costume pattern with some costume knit fabric from Joann.
A behind the scenes look at the second costume I ever wore to a con, a hand detailed Sunnydale High School cheer uniform, complete with pompoms and a custom made v-neck
Behind the seams of making the first version of Buffy’s Season 2 Halloween costume, featuring some waist damage after it’s SDCC adventures and ending with it’s second year out with updated petticoats and wig
